Please see attached pictures of a fungus-mushroom type growth that has appeared in my lawn (and my neighbors lawn). In the early stages the growth is fairly soft to the touch, but seems to harden with age. It seems to be rooted into the ground and would require a scoop to remove. This is the second year that this growth has been in my lawn. I have approximately 10 growth spots within a 1/2 acre. It appears in areas that in my opinion would receive adequate sun and rain - neither to excess. Any input you can provide would be appreciated. Thank you very much.
Your photos were not attached as the files were too large. You can resize and resubmit. It is common for different species of mushrooms to appear in lawns after wet weather. The fungus feeds on dead organic matter such as dead tree roots, buried logs, and stumps. They cause no harm to the lawn. Simply pick and remove.
