Instructions to Resize images
Option 1 – Use your digital camera's software.
- Follow directions to reduce the size of the image to 500 kb or less.
- Return to the Send a Question page of the HGIC website, click browse to locate and attach the resized photo.
Option 2 – Photo Resizer download
- Click here to download Free Batch Photo Resizer website your computer.
Photo Resizer will automatically resize your photos and place the resized copy in the original folder. Your original photo will be unchanged.
- Click on the link to download PhotoResize400.exe
- When prompted, Click Save File.
- Save in: Desktop
- Change the File name to: PhotoResizeK400.exe
- This will ensure that the size is small enough to be sent yet large enough for us to view details.
- Locate the PhotoResizeK400.exe icon on your desktop.
- From Windows Explorer, drag and drop the image you want to resize directly onto the PhotoResizeK400 icon.
- When a black DOS-like window appears, Press Enter to exit.
- Your resized photo will be in the same folder with the original photo. The file name will be the same as the original with -K400 added.
- Return to the Send a Question page of the HGIC website, click browse to locate and attach the resized photo.
Option 3 – PC users with Microsoft Office
- Right click on photo name. Go to Open with.... and select Microsoft Office Picture Manager
- Right click on photo, select Edit pictures
- Click on Compress pictures (not resize)
- Choose "Documents" (to get a file size large enough to provide photo detail)
- Press OK at the bottom of the page
- In upper left corner of the window, choose File, Save As...
- Give your photo a new name. This is an important step so you don't lose your original image quality.
- Return to the Send a Question page of the HGIC website, click browse to locate and attach the resized photo.
Option 4 – Mac users with iPhoto
- Open iPhoto and click on the plus sign at the bottom left
- Create a new album and name it whatever you like
- View your photos, right click on selected photo to view size by choosing ‘show photo info’
- If over 500KB, drag it into the new album, NOTE: You can select up to three photos to send by holding the Command Key while clicking on the pictures.
- Click on the File Menu Bar at the top of the page and choose Export
- Select File Export
- Select JPEG from the drop down menu and change the size, High and Large will work.
- Select where you want to send the photos (choose Desktop)
- Return to the Send a Question page of the HGIC website, click browse to locate and attach the resized photo.
